Also the whole 80′s full court press in popular culture making it seem like every woman who wanted a relationship was a bunny boiler. There were lots of books in the 80′s advising women not to count on a man and to make sure she could financially support herself, not wait till Prince Charming came along to start living her life. But there was also this thought that got started in the 80′s that if a couple had casual sex or ongoing casual sex and the woman wanted it to turn into a relationship, she was “psycho.” I really don’t think feminism is responsible for the entirety of the popularization of casual sex. There was a lot of cheerleading for casual sex in rock music and the movies. In a nutshell, I don’t think GS displayed much common sense here, and she had to really stretch to claim that the goals of feminism have not been met, and then some.
